Virtual Regulatory TSCA Pre-Conference Workshop

Join NACD for a Virtual Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) Hot Topics Regulatory Workshop the week before ChemEdge. The workshop will be held in two-hour interactive online sessions August 11-13, 2020, and will be presented by regulatory experts from Bergeson & Campbell P.C., including Managing Partner Lynn Bergeson, Director of Chemistry Dr. Richard Engler, and Senior Regulatory Consultant Kathleen Roberts. The workshop will begin with a review of TSCA and cover current hot topics including Significant New Use Rules (SNURs), the high-priority chemical risk evaluations and industry fees, Chemical Data Reporting (CDR), and more. Participants will be able to ask questions of the presenters following each topic. At the end of the workshop, participants can join break-out rooms divided by topic to discuss what was learned and share their experiences.

Chemical Data Reporting (CDR) Changes for 2020

The 2020 CDR reporting period is open and has been extended to November 30, 2020. This session will review the 2020 CDR rule changes, including new requirements related to confidentiality claims, modifications in reporting codes, and more. It will also address what manufacturers and importers should do to ensure accurate reporting and avoid reporting mishaps.

TSCA Risk Evaluations – EPA’s Approach and Current Activities

This session will cover where EPA stands on the “first ten” risk evaluations and the “next twenty,” how risk evaluations have evolved since the first draft risk evaluation for Pigment Violet 29 was released in 2019, what substances might be coming up next for prioritization, and how Section 6 risk evaluations may impact NACD member companies.

TSCA Risk Evaluations – Fees

This session will cover TSCA fees, with a focus on Section 6 risk evaluation fees, and will review the required actions and specified timing that a manufacturer or importer must take to comply with self-certification requirements and to avoid fee responsibilities. The session will also address the forthcoming EPA rulemaking to modify the fee rule and focus on issues on which NACD member companies should be aware.

TSCA Significant New Use Rules (SNURs)

This session is devoted to SNURs, the issuance of which is not abating nor likely to any time soon. Topics to be covered include what are SNURs, how they work, how to manage SNUR requirements, and why and how to communicate SNURs throughout the supply chain.
