|NACD Applauds Senate Introduction of SBHP Legislation
National Assocation of Chemical Distributors (NACD) President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement on S. 1818, the Small Business Health Plans Act, recently introduced by Sen. Mike Enzi (R-WY). This legislation would provide small businesses with more affordable health care options for their employees and families through small business health plans (SBHPs). The U.S. House of Repesentatives passed similar legislation earlier this year.

Chemical distributor and NACD member Chemisphere Corporation participated in a federal regulatory reform roundtable in St. Louis, MO to discuss regulatory burdens facing their company and the broader chemical distribution industry. Hosted by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), this and similar roundtables focusing on suggested reforms from the business community have been held in Louisiana, Idaho, Kentucky, Ohio, Missouri, and Kansas.

NACD has announced the winners of the 2017 Responsible Distribution Excellence Award. NACD is proud to announce the hiring of Layla Soberanis as the association’s new director of legislative affairs. She will advocate for critical issues on behalf of the chemical distribution industry on Capitol Hill, specifically on legislation related to labor, regulatory reform, tax, trade, and transportation. She will join Lindsay Ryan, director of legislative affairs, and Doug Leigh, legislative affairs coordinator, on the NACD advocacy team.

NACD is proud to announce the hiring of Lindsay Ryan as the association’s new director of legislative affairs. Prior to joining NACD, Ryan was a legislative assistant for U.S. Congressman John Moolenaar (R-MI) working on issues related to national defense, energy, immigration, the judiciary, science and technology, telecommunications, and veteran’s affairs.

NACD welcomed the approval of Michigan State Senate Resolution 64 sponsored by Senator Peter MacGregor (R-MI-28) and State House Resolution 107 sponsored by Representative Terry Sabo (D-Muskegon), which both recognize the benefits of NACD Responsible Distribution®, the association’s mandatory third-party-verified environmental, health, safety and security program. The resolutions also announce that today, May 24, is Responsible Chemical Distribution Day in the state of Michigan.

NACD President Eric Byer issued the following statement on the U.S. Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs’ markup of several pieces of legislation aimed at streamlining the regulatory process and reducing burdens on small businesses, including the Regulatory Accountability Act (S. 951) and the Small Business Regulatory Flexibility Improvements Act (S. 584).
|Chemical Distributors Advocate for Association Health Plans and Regulatory Reform on Capitol Hill
More than 90 NACD members descended on Capitol Hill to urge nearly 200 Congressional offices to support legislation that brings transparency to the agency rulemaking process to reduce the unnecessary burden of rapidly and unexpectedly changing regulations on American businesses, and to expand association health plans (AHPs) to help small businesses provide access to quality health care to their employees.
