NACD Hails TSCA Reform Final Passage
NACD President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement today on the final passage by the U.S. Senate of H.R. 2576, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act that resolves the differences between House and Senate versions of Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform legislation.

NACD President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement today on the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of H.R. 2576, the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act that would reform the 40-year-old Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).

Chemical Distributors Descend on Capitol Hill to Urge Regulatory Certainty for U.S. Businesses
Members of the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) are heading to Capitol Hill today to encourage Congress to reform the regulatory process and provide chemical distributors and other U.S. businesses the regulatory certainty needed to continue as economic engines and job creators.
 
Rep. Sam Graves Introduces Statement into Congressional Record Recognizing NACD Responsible Distribution®
Recently, Rep. Sam Graves (R-MO) submitted into the U.S. Congressional Record a statement affirming the value of NACD Responsible Distribution® and celebrating the 25th anniversary of the environmental, health, safety, and security program. Responsible Distribution is a mandatory condition of membership in the association as a third-party-verified management practice.
 
Reps. Moolenaar and Lipinski Announce the New Congressional Chemistry Caucus
The Congressional Chemistry Caucus will serve as an informal group of Members dedicated to issues related to the transformative science of chemistry. The mission of the bipartisan caucus is to educate Members of Congress and the public about the benefits of chemistry in today’s society and the importance of sound science in public policy.
 
NACD Serves as Founding Member of International Chemical Trade Association
NACD and other global industry associations joined together to form the International Chemical Trade Association (ICTA). The founding members of ICTA include NACD, the European Association of Chemical Distributors Fecc, the German and British associations VCH and CBA, and a number of major chemical distributors. In addition to other companies, China’s CCCMC, Brazil’s Associquim, both the Mexican and Canadian associations of chemical distributors, and further European national distributor associations have been invited to join. The more robust ICTA replaces the international Council of Chemical Trade Associations, of which NACD was a member.
 
NACD Members Meet with Policymakers to Discuss Legislative, Regulatory Challenges
NACD Government Advocacy and Regulatory Affairs Committees met with key policymakers and regulators in Washington to provide input and express concerns about some of the association’s key priorities for the coming year.
 
NACD Launches Resource on Chemical Distribution’s Economic Impact
NACD unveiled a new economic impact tool for the chemical distribution sector, powered by research conducted by the firm of John Dunham & Associates (JDA). This online resource illustrates the incredible contributions the chemical distribution industry provides to American workers and the U.S. economy. The tool takes into account a broad range of sectors to which distributors provide valuable products and services and quantifies the impact to the U.S. economy.
 
NACD Brings New Talent to Regulatory Affairs Team
NACD announced the hiring of Allison Tuszynski as manager of regulatory affairs. She will support the association’s regulatory efforts, including reviewing and commenting on regulatory initiatives, providing NACD members with regulatory compliance, and building and maintaining relationships with regulatory officials.
 
American Chemistry Council and National Association of Chemical Distributors Jointly Unveil Program to Streamline Implementation of Chemical Security Regulations
The American Chemistry Council (ACC) and the National Association of Chemical Distributors (NACD) jointly released an Alternate Security Program (ASP) template and guidance document for use by their member company facilities to comply with the Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards (CFATS) regulatory program. Security plans developed using the ASP package will help provide the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) with greater clarity about regulated facilities’ security measures and how they meet or exceed CFATS requirements, while simplifying the compliance process for facility owners and operators.
 
NACD Lauds Senate Passage of TSCA Reform Legislation
NACD President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement on the Senate’s overwhelming and bipartisan passage of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, legislation that would reform the nearly 40-year-old Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA).
 
NACD Praises Passage of STB Reform Legislation
NACD President Eric R. Byer made the following statement about the U.S. House of Representatives’ passage of S. 808, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) Reauthorization Act of 2015, which the U.S. Senate passed earlier this year.
 
NACD Applauds Passage of Long-term Highway Legislation
NACD President Eric R. Byer issued the following statement praising the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate for their swift passage of the Fixing America’s Surface Transportation (FAST) Act, which funds for five years the federal highway, transit, highway safety, motor carrier safety, hazardous materials, and passenger rail programs.
