What Is RDP Verification (RDPV)?

Briefly, RDP Verification is NACD's on-site third-party verification process required of each NACD member at one of its distribution locations. RDPV is conducted by an independent, third-party verifier(s) against a standard protocol based on the RDP Guiding Principles and a Code of Management Practice. RDPV IS NOT an inspection against a rigid set of Yes/No questions that leave no flexibility for response. For example:

• RDPV will verify that a member company has system in place and is being implemented to provide for compliance with federal regulations.
• RDPV is not a review of your company's actual compliance against specific regulations.
• RDPV will verify that a member company has a system in place to identify/determine the skills and knowledge required to perform job responsibilities, and/or that programs are in place to ensure employees are properly trained.
• RDPV does not evaluate your company's individual employee skill levels

NACD members are now undergoing the third 3-year cycle of on-site RDP Verification. NACD's third-party RDP Verification Administrator, Chuck McHugh of Haz-Mat Compliance and Verification, is initially contacting members, and verifers are following up. The first RDP Verifications of the third cycle took place in February 2007.  

This third cycle is the most robust and most rewarding for NACD members, whombers are expecting to receive a more thorough assessment of their RDP implementation and of their approach to environmental, health, safety, and security management.
